some of that cold is gonna come our way, it said on the frontpage of 'de telegraaf'. I think we should close the borders even more.

Does your car still run? Or is this a non-issue with all that snow?

3. Arduenn commented on 2006/1/20, 11.05 h:

@g2s - Where the f*ck is Rita when we really need her?

4. Jealousy commented on 2006/1/20, 11.05 h:

Yup, still running.

Some go out every 2 hours to run the engine for 10 minutes, to heat it up a bit.

5. *--* commented on 2006/1/20, 13.47 h:

I know countries where they sell cars with built in heating for the motor. So you can heat it while it is parked...

6. Boramor commented on 2006/1/20, 14.14 h:

I know countries were people go out in the morning and let their engines run for a full hour to warm up their car, not even because it's freezing, but because they want to sit in a warm car.

7. jorrit commented on 2006/1/20, 14.56 h:

I see parking places outside my door equipped with electricity outputs to connect your motorheater to, when the car is parked outside.

8. Ton commented on 2006/1/20, 15.02 h:

Yeah, a blockheater is much better than to have the car run for 10 minutes every hour.

You're probably better off by leaving it alone when it's that cold, since a cold start wears it the same way as around 100km driving it.

If you want to keep it in shape, I'd drive it every day for about an hour.

So you think -28 is cold?

Driving really fast also works wonders for your engine.

Just don't accellerate to 250 from your cold start...

10. Jealousy commented on 2006/1/21, 11.15 h:

looks more like BMW's "cheat code" to test the speedo :)

11. THOR commented on 2006/1/21, 11.18 h:

Kudo's for recognising the BMW gauge, but using the cheat code doesn't rev the engine up to max...

12. Jealousy commented on 2006/1/21, 17.41 h:

I thought it maxes all dials, no?

13. THOR commented on 2006/1/21, 19.15 h:

Then the third dial (bottom right) would have been at max too...

14. Jealousy commented on 2006/1/21, 20.37 h:

Well, that dial shows fuel consumption. If that car is really doing 7000rpm, consumption should be at max too... unless it's broken :)

So, what's the story? Is it your car? :)

15. THOR commented on 2006/1/21, 21.02 h:

Yeah, it is my car. It actually does run 250 KM/H (it's a chipped 325i touring) and I took a picture of the dials some time ago while I was doing 250 at night in Germany. However I accidentally deleted that picture.

Since I haven't had time to go to Gemany again yet I photoshopped this picture. I use it as my P910i wallpaper. And yeah, I forgot the consumption dial. Sloppy.

However, I didn't edit the temperature digits showing -40...

..the thermometer in my car is just broken :)

You noty, noty boy! :D

Btw, does tacho realy go up to the max at that speed? Somehow i'm quite sceptical about that. I think it should not go so far in red zone.

17. THOR commented on 2006/1/23, 19.43 h:

You can actually get it up to about 6400 revs. This image is overdoing it a bit, but it looked nicer this way ;)

The new 325i which I will have in a couple of months really does over 7000 revs tho :)

18. Jealousy commented on 2006/1/24, 10.42 h:

Don't forget to post the actual speedo pic from ur new beemer :)

an Engine is like sex, it is all about the lube, and cubic inches.

rpms dont matter. size does.
