[Update] Neptune's moon Triton is a 'proxy' for Pluto, since it has common features. Size, ice geysers, may be found on Pluto too.
[Update] The map of Pluto and Charon (pronounced by the New Horizons crew as 'Sharon') will be of variable resolution, since only one side will be visible at the time of flyby.
[Update] New Horizons 8-inch telescope is taking color images of Pluto right now. Infrared images next week, by means of warming up to the actual encounter July 14.
