Amerkaanse Centers for Disease Control pompen 1,6 M$ in Tweede Leven

Drie maanden geleden nog werd de ondergang van Second Life aangekondigd door tech-toekomstvoorspeller Paul Lee:

De Amerikaanse Centers for Disease Control (CDC) trekken zich niks aan van dit vermeende barsten van de zoveelste zeepbel en financieren een nieuwe studie waarin onderzocht wordt of het opleiden en trainen van personeel van gemeentelijke gezondheidszorg-diensten efficiënter gaat in een virtuele wereld. Traditionele trainingsmethoden zijn vaak duur, onrealistisch (sic) en er zijn weinig deelnemers per instelling. In een virtuele wereld zou de communicatie tussen verschillende disciplines eenvoudiger zijn en er zouden op goedkope wijze verschillende scenario's kunnen worden gedraaid, zoals influenza-epidemieën en terroristische aanslagen.

Gaat het wellicht toch nog wat worden met dat Tweede Leven.
