Waarheen leidt de bekende weg?

Slashdot-vraag:

"I seem to remember a time when people helped each other far more readily on the internet. Now there seems to be a new breed of forum user who a) hangs out at a forum socially all day b) does not bother to help at all and c) gets a kick out of telling you things like "what a stupid question" or "nobody will help you with that here" or similar... Where have the good old days gone when people much more readily gave other people step-by-step tips, tricks, instructions and advice?"

Het is weer tijd voor de wekelijkse dagelijkse uurlijkse controverse:

Oftewel: eenieder in de VS (ambtenaren en particulieren) mag goederen en diensten weigeren aan de homosuele/transsuele medemens als dit tegen zijn/haar geloofsovertuiging is.

Het is nog in de maak. De Trump-regering wil eerst nog even peilen of dit niet voor teveel ophef gaat zorgen natuurlijk. En anders een of ander schandaaltje de wereld insturen—zakje coke in Spicer z'n jasje droppen of hem anderzijds onder een Amerikaans spreekwoordelijke bus gooien—zodat dit onopgemerkt de wereld in kan.

Als ik dit twee jaar geleden zou hebben gezegd, dan had iemand waarschijnlijk een dwangbuis voor me besteld, maar nu… Het kan niet lang meer duren voordat de eerste anti-NAVO-geluiden de kop op zullen steken. Vanuit het Witte Huis, bij Geenstijl, GeenPeil, en andere alt-rechtse partijen.

The decision to first block, and then allow, green card holders was meant to create chaos and pull out opposition; they never intended to hold it for too long. It wouldn’t surprise me if the goal is to create “resistance fatigue,” to get Americans to the point where they’re more likely to say “Oh, another protest? Don’t you guys ever stop?” relatively quickly.

Persoonlijk denk ik dat er vooral veel incompetentie in het spel is.
