Het ging uiteindelijk nergens over. Het was gewoon een grapje. Trump zei Tim Apple in plaats van Tim Cook. Tim Cook veranderde zijn Twitter-naam zelfs in Tim .

Een glas, een plas, en alles was weer zoals het was? Hahaha, natuurlijk niet. Trump moest en zou zijn zogenaamde slip-up tijdens partijdonorbijeenkomst in Mar-a-Lago corrigeren, want het zat hem erg diep.

"Trump told the donors that he actually said 'Tim Cook Apple' really fast, and the 'Cook' part of the sentence was soft. But all you heard from the 'fake news,' he said, was 'Tim Apple.'

Two donors who were there told me they couldn't understand why the president would make such a claim given the whole thing is captured on video. Nobody cared, they said, and Tim Cook took it in good humor by changing his Twitter profile to Tim Apple.

'I just thought, why would you lie about that," one of the donors told me. "It doesn't even matter!'"

Maar dat was nog niet alles. Want het zat Trump nog steeds niet lekker. En dus vertelde hij weer een heel ander verhaal op Twitter.

"@realDonaldTrump - At a recent round table meeting of business executives, & long after formally introducing Tim Cook of Apple, I quickly referred to Tim + Apple as Tim/Apple as an easy way to save time & words. The Fake News was disparagingly all over this, & it became yet another bad Trump story!"

Tim Cook is een lettergreep korter dan Tim Apple, en had hem alweer 0,08 kostbare presidentiële seconden kunnen besparen, qua snelle denkreflexen. Maar, het allergrootste raadsel is niet Trump en zijn brein. Het allergrootste raadsel is al die mensen die hem blijven verdedigen en hem blijven enabelen en donor zijn en gratis geld blijven geven.
