Voor de Firefox Adepten

1. Installeer de Tweak Network Setting plugin.

2. Herstart Firefox

3. Ga naar Tools > Tweak Network Settings

4. Klik de "Power"

5. Klik "OK"

6. Zie het Zwarte Bos laden in record tempo!!!

Icing on the cake

1. Type in de locatiebar: about:config

2. Rechter-muisklik (wat is dat in de Mac OS X werld?) ergens op de pagina en selecteer New-> Integer

3. Noem hem/haar "nglayout.initialpaint.delay"

4. geef waarde "0"

Ik kreeg een kwartier geleden deze mail:

Voor de duidelijkheid: het gaat hier om een onderwijsbijeenkomst van vanmorgen 9.00 uur. Let vooral op de subject 'afwezigheid van vandaag'. Als docent heb ik duidelijk gefaald. W��r is het misgegaan bij mij?

Een nieuwe bewoner...

Afgelopen zaterdagochtend om 04.00 uur is Madelief geboren. Moeder en docher maken het goed, alles ging voorspoedig en we zijn zelfs al weer enigzins uitgerust. In de comments heb ik vast nog wel beschuit met muisjes staan.

Groeten. Doe iemand de groeten met deze Polaroid-o-nizer. (Voorbeeld - knap zinloos overigens).

Verlichte geest. Waarom is Bill Gates de rijkste man ter wereld? Omdat 'ie zo intelligent is. Hij w��t dat Microsoft-produkten geen bugs hebben. Vuige laster uit Het Zwarte Bos? Was het maar waar. Lees dit historische interview van FOCUS Magazine met Bill Gates uit 1995 (FOCUS nummer 43, 23 oktober 1995, bladzijde 206-212) er nog maar eens op na.

Nerveus. Da's gek. Met een surveillancecamera op het plafond zou je je volgens deze veiligheidsbeambten veiliger voelen, maar ze lopen weg zodra ze door hebben dat er een camera op hun snufferd gericht staat. (Zo'n tas wil ik ook wel).

Eccentrieke mensen. Een flinke lijst eccentrieken mensen bij Wikipedia. Michael staat er natuurlijk bij, maar ook Alejandro Jodorowski, auteur van o.a. de Incal-reeks.

Crime Statistics

In 2003 19 women (older than 12) per 1000 were victim of a violent crime in the USA. Violent crimes included are homicide, rape, robbery, and both simple and aggravated assault. Based on a population of 275 million, that's about 14,315 a day or 1.9% a year. (Please correct me if I'm wrong). In the Netherlands the percentage for violent crime is 0.74% for the whole population. In Aruba even lower.

A US citizen is probably more safe in most countries outside the USA than in the USA. But maybe that is jumping to conclusions.
