Een kans om Bill Gates te ontmoeten

Er is een kans om de voorzitter van Microsoft Corporation te ontmoeten. Daarvoor hoef je alleen maar een opstel van 300 woorden te schrijven. Dat lijkt eenvoudig. Je moet schrijven over je passie voor Microsoft Windows, waarom het een positieve weerslag heeft op je leven. Er zijn vijf categorien waar een winnaar uit gekozen wordt: cultuur en gemeenschap, muziek, herinneringen, huis en levensstijl, en sport en spel. Bron: c|net

Kut, dat schept verwachtingen. Dan kan het alleen maar tegenvallen. En het vooruitzicht van een koffiepauze is ook mijlenver omdat er straks allerlei studenten aan zitten te komen. n het moet natuurlijk in het engels, want ome Bill moet het kunnen lezen.

In de categorie muziek: Hoera! Nu wordt audio tenminste steeds vaker geript in het zuigende .wma en video wordt op het net geplempt als .wmv

Herinneringen: MS-DOS was wel oke.

Huis- en levensstijl: De XBOX herfst wel omdat ik die als mediacenter gebruik.

Sport en spel: Daar doe ik niet meer aan, omdat ik nu altijd thuis zit te computeren.

MS-BASIC, daar heb ik nog veel mee gespeeld. Maar TurboPascal was beter.

Oja, op DOS was het QBASIC. Op de Mac Plus was het MS-BASIC (met GUI api calls en een compiler, heel cool was dat).

Microsoft Windows makes me realize that there are things such as freedom, stability, security, creativity, happiness. Windows is my reference frame, my standard and my teacher. Windows helps me explore and comprehend. Windows makes me grow. Windows makes me realise that there is freedom out there, the freedom to use an OS without annoying activation keys that need to be wielded with every update, no phone calls, no helpdesks. Windows makes me realise that there is an OS out there that is stable, never crashes, never invokes blasphemic swearing or exploding blood vessels, that it is indeed possible to create and sell reliable software. Windows makes me realise that there is an OS out there that is secure, an OS that has no viruses or trojans or worms, an OS where my data is safe. Windows makes me realise that there is an OS out there that inspires me to do things without having to figure out how the system works. That there is an OS out there that is user-friendly, an OS that simply does the job, where consistency and usability are the standard. Without Windows I would take each of these privileges for granted without realizing that they are in fact precious and rare. Windows teaches me to see these things. Some day I might even put a PC with Windows on it in a dark corner of my house for my kids to see these things too. Thank you Microsoft Windows.

Lege termen? Het is aarsch-likkerij van den boovenste plank!

Koffiepauze? Lekker vergaderen, naar lezingen luisteren en filmpjes opzoeken op het internot.

Enfin, hier moet het spul naar worden opgestuurd. Ik ben wel geen US citizen, dus ik val buiten de doelgroep, maar je weet maar nooit, bij gebrek aan inzendingen maak ik vast wel een kans.

En, oh, ik mocht er ook een videofilpje bij uploaden. Dat heb ik dus maar gedaan.

Valt me op 1: wat is die poster op de achtergrond?

Valt me op 2: Zit die monitor niet aan snoeren en stekkers?

Valt me op 3: Is dat de reden dat ie zich afreageert op de monitor, en niet op de PC?

Valt me op 4: Kijkt ie nou ff naar de camera?

Valt me op 5: Lekker oprecht oud-antiek sjaggarijn! Veel fijn-bozer dan alle remakes en grappen op dit gebied.
